Gatherers
The process of collating various printed signatures, in the right sequence so as to make a book that can be bound, is called Gathering. It is important to gather them in the right order, without missing any signatures. It is also important that multiple copies of the same signature are not picked up while collating a book. Gathering can be offline, before they are sewn or inline while connected to a perfect binder. Modern day gathering machines are equipped with Cameras or Recognition systems that help prevent making a book with blank pages or duplication of pages. Signature recognition systems make the process of gathering error- free.
